UB alumni reunite during research seminars at Beijing University of Technology

Three alumni from the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering presented research at the Beijing University of Technology in China, last week.

Manish Kumar (PhD ’15), Shoma Kitayama (PhD ’15) and Manish Kumar (PhD ’15) visited the Beijing University of Technology at the invitation of Zilan Zhong, an associate professor at the university and alumnus of the Department.

The three visiting alumni presented research and had a chance to discuss possible collaboration opportunities in the future. Each alumnus remains research active in their area of expertise. Kumar is an assistant professor in the department of civil engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Kitayama is a postdoctoral associate at UB. The alumni were joined by a former UB postdoctoral associate, professor Duozhi Wang.

“It was a great time to meet again with all the people who helped and encouraged me during my doctoral period,” Kitayama says, “their presentations were inspirational for widening my research interests.”

Zhong hosted Kumar, Kitayama and Kumar from August 20  - 24.
