The Power of Partnerships
As reported by Buffalo Business First, the University at Buffalo will lead the proposed Supply Chain Activation Network (SCAN) project. This project, which was submitted part of the Buffalo-Rochester-Syracuse application for $54 million in federal funding, would build up the supply chain network for the semiconductor industry through both existing and new companies.
The three cities will work together in five key areas to support the semiconductor industry: workforce training, commercialization, supply chain, startup innovation and governance. UB’s efforts would focus on supply chain and use $9 million of that money over five years.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for [UB] students to potentially be available for doing projects for these companies and doing internships,” says Ananth Iyer, dean and professor in the University at Buffalo School of Management. “We would like to showcase the region to our students so that more of them choose to stay here.” By this summer, Iyer expects to hear if the application was awarded funding.
