Buffalo Inno shared progress made in 2022 by Garwood Medical Devices, a Buffalo-based company founded in 2014 with technology licensed out of the University at Buffalo and Syracuse University. The technology, called BioPrax, treats infections on metallic orthopedic implants.
As reported, the company raised nearly $797,000 last year, bringing its total raised to about $15 million. CEO Wayne Bacon stated that BioPrax has been through in vitro and in vivo studies and is on the way to human trials.
Garwood Medical, which has its own facility on Northland Avenue and lab space in UB's Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences, won a grant and mentorship with Johnson & Johnson and was accepted into an accelerator in Japan, among other achievements.
