CAREER EXPERIENCE
We fund talented students from the University at Buffalo to work for you. The Career Experience Program is a UB-sponsored program that gives UB undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to work for eligible companies in the greater Western New York area.
Eligible companies fit the following criteria:
Accepted companies will have a student work for a total of 144 hours during the semester.
Companies must be in the life sciences, materials informatics or advanced manufacturing sectors and be for-profit. Companies, who participated in previous years, must have participated in the final program survey for past years and have economic impact submitted, if applicable.
Postings will be reviewed by a committee for acceptance into the program. Clarity of the duties and responsibilities of the students, timeliness of posting submissions, and alignment to the mission of the program will be taken into consideration for selection. Companies who participated in 2024 MUST have completed the final survey to be eligible for 2025.

It is the company’s responsibility to discuss IP confidentiality with the student. Contracts are signed between the student and UB and between UB and the company, to ensure IP stays with the company.
Unless otherwise stated, the student may work a maximum of 144 total hours between January 22 – May 15, 2025. This is typically broken down to 12 hours per week for 12 weeks. Students may not work more than 20 hours in any given week.

No. The program is open to all positions within life sciences or advanced manufacturing companies. The goal of the program is to bring awareness to the variety of careers in these sectors.
The company must assign a supervisor to the student.

Students will be paid $18/hour.
