The State University of New York (SUNY) along with University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences began a partnership with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Drug Utilization Review (DUR) Program in 2008. The goal of the partnership is to provide evidence-based, non-commercial clinical reviews coupled with academic analysis of drug utilization to improve safe and cost-effective use of medications in the NY Medicaid population.
Drug utilization review programs help to ensure that prescriptions for outpatient drugs are appropriate, medically necessary, and not likely to result in adverse medical consequences. Our team of clinical pharmacists and data analysts from the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences have over 15 years of experience working with the New York State Department of Health. Collaborating with the New York State Department of Health we provide detailed custom drug reviews and conduct retrospective analyses of pharmacy and medical claims to support the New York State Drug Utilization Review Board.
