Web app helps drivers find parking on campus

UB students, faculty, staff and visitors looking for parking on campus can now use the UB Parking Finder to help them locate those hard-to-find spaces.
The Parking Finder web app developed by Modii, a leading provider of digital parking and mobility solutions, can be accessed without the need for downloading or sharing any personal information. Using an interactive map, the application displays up-to-date parking spaces and predicted conditions across the North and South campuses.

Through this partnership with Modii, the university is implementing new solutions designed to enhance driver experience for commuters to campus and streamline parking management for administrators.
“The addition of Modii to our service offerings aligns with the mission and vision of UB Parking and Transportation,” says Christopher Austin, director, Parking and Transportation Services. “We continually strive to enhance the level of service to our customers by providing technological innovations designed to make campus commuting and travel safe and efficient.”
The web app can be accessed via a web browser or UB Mobile (under Parking & Transport). Users can personalize their experience by selecting specific permit types, allowing them to visualize the likelihood of finding parking at a certain time of day based on their permit requirements.
“Modii’s predictive technology will arm commuters with information to help them quickly find available parking,” Austin says. “If the technology is utilized and commuters go directly to where there is available parking, then the campus will reap the benefits of a reduction in harmful emissions generated when vehicles circle lots for longer periods of times looking for an elusive parking space.”
Knowing where to park based on specific permit permissions allows drivers to avoid overcrowded areas and receive alerts about parking changes due to events or other circumstances via the web app, which will eliminate the frustration of circling for parking and ensuring drivers can get to their destination seamlessly.
By working alongside and integrating with ParkMobile, Modii also displays payment information in applicable areas, enabling users to easily find pricing and pay for parking.
Modii's comprehensive platform provides UB parking administrators with a unified interface of parking information, enabling the easy access and adjustment of parking regulations to better serve the UB community. The system integrates all parking data into a centralized dashboard, offering valuable insights into parking utilization and trends to enable effective planning. It also empowers informed decision-making for future events and overall parking management strategies on campus.
