New name for UB's Office of Economic Development

• Increase industry engagement through business development support, matching funds for consulting and research with industry, identifying and securing industry partners, and funding experiential learning opportunities for students.
• Increase technology start-ups spinning out of the university through enhanced commercialization support including funding opportunities, incubation, business formation support and access to mentoring/business expertise.

The following units and programs, led by Christina Orsi, Associate Vice President, Economic Development, comprise UB Business and Entrepreneur Partnerships:

• UB’s New York State Center of Excellence in Materials Informatics (CMI)

• UB Incubators (Baird Incubator, Biosciences Incubator at UB’s Clinical and Translational Research Center, and the NYSERDA Virtual Energy Incubator)
• Western New York Incubator Network (the former Western New York Innovation Hot Spot)

UB Business and Entrepreneur Partnerships office works closely with industry and entrepreneurs facilitating relationships that leverage university knowledge, talent and technology to strengthen our innovation economy. In conjunction with Technology Transfer, we also foster industry relationships that offer real-world opportunities for cutting-edge research, and assist in nurturing faculty and student entrepreneurial activity.
