Our generosity reaches others, improving the lives of our neighbors.

Thinking Globally, Volunteering Locally

Organized by the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County, the Day of Caring serves as an informal launch of UB’s Campaign for the Community, conducted each year in the fall semester.

UB volunteers will work on various projects in the community, performing tasks ranging from painting (interior and exterior), landscaping, cleaning and clearing pathways, building a handicap deck and ramp way.

About 175 UB volunteers participate in the Day of Caring.

According to the United Way, roughly 3,500 volunteers from Erie and Niagara counties participate in the Day of Caring. In Erie County alone, 3,177 volunteers from 159 companies contributed their time to 156 projects, benefiting 106 area agencies and the people they serve. Over the past 18 years, the efforts of Day of Caring volunteers have saved agencies in Erie and Niagara counties more than $6.1 million through more than 365,000 hours of service donated by 93,500 volunteers.
