UB Blue defeated UB White, 14-0

A balanced defensive effort, including six-and-a-half quarterback sacks, led the Blue team to a 14-0 win over the White in the annual Blue-White football spring scrimmage at UB Stadium on Sunday. In a day when both defenses dominated, the Blue team used a pair of scoring passes to total the only points in the game. Senior Drew Haddad caught a seven-yard touchdown pass from Mike Gaydosz to open the scoring in the second quarter. That touchdown was set up by a sack and forced fumble by sophomore Kevin McCarthy and the Blue scored four plays later. The Blue added an insurance touchdown on the last play of the game when Kareem Simmons caught a five-yard pass from Joe Freedy. Freedy was the most successful of the UB quarter-backs, completing 10-of-15 passes for 99 yards and a score while playing for both sides.

The Blue defense was led by sophomore Brandon Jordan, who had seven tackles and a sack, while Adolphus Barkor added five tackles and broke up a pass in the end zone. The White also played some great defense, allowing only 198 yards of total offense, led by redshirt freshman Jamie Guerra and senior Josh Trexler. Junior Eric added nine tackles and two pass breakups for the White team, while his former high-school teammate Kevin Johnson had eight tackles. Sophomore Dahnel Singfield paced the White offense with four catches for 51 yards.
