The U.S. Postal Service has presented Campus Mail Services its Platinum Club award recognizing companies and groups that use the postal services as an intricate part of the success of their business. SueAnne Hanrahan is manager of campus mail services.
Susan Bennett, clinical associate professor of physical therapy, exercise and nutrition sciences and clinical associate professor of neurology, recently received the Dr. Marilyn Moffat Distinguished Service Award from the New York Physical Therapy Association (NYPTA). The award honors those members who have made an outstanding contribution to the physical therapy profession, either through education, research or service; the NYPTA, or the community.
Alan Lockwood, professor of neurology, nuclear medicine and communicative disorders and sciences, will visit Chinese PLA general hospital in Beijing to deliver a series of lectures and discuss his research on tinnitus and positron emission tomography (PET) with hospital staff members.
Joseph Lane, director of the Center for Assistive Technology in the School of Health Related Professions, will deliver the keynote address at a symposium entitled "Towards Technology Connected to Diversity," organized by the Canadian Comité d'adaptation de la main-d'oeuvre pour personnes handicapées (CAMO).
Lucinda Finley, professor of law, will be the keynote at the annual Celebration for Planned Parenthood of Buffalo and Erie County on Oct. 30. Finley also will speak as part of a panel at the inductions to the Women's Hall of Fame at the Women's Rights National Park in Seneca Falls.
Chunming Qiao, associate professor of computer science and engineering, has been appointed editor-at-large of the Communication Society (ComSoc) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in the area of optical networks. The main responsibility of the editor-at-large is to work with editors-in-chiefs of all existing society journals and magazines on organizing special issues/feature topics, identifying guest editors and providing guidelines and comments on articles related to optical networks in IEEE ComSoc publications.
Howard Wolf, professor of English, will lecture at the University of Oulu, Finland, during October as part of a sabbatical leave. His topics will include "Some Recent Trends in American Life and Culture," "Autobiography and Teaching" and "A Writer's World: Reading and Commentary." While in Oulu, he will address the Finnish-American Society. Wolf also will lecture in Helsinki, Scotland and England.
