Work by the winners of the Department of Art's 2001 Rumsey Award will be on display through Dec. 7 in the Art Department Gallery, B45 Center for the Arts, North Campus. Opening reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. today. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

"Reflections in Black: Smithsonian African American Photography, A History Deconstructed"

The rich legacy of African-American photographers is explored in a traveling Smithsonian Institution exhibit on display through Dec. 8 in the First Floor Gallery of the UB Art Gallery in the Center for the Arts, North Campus. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

"Anatomical Art by Vesalius"
"19th Century Botanical Prints"

Reproductions of the famous "muscle men" series by Andreas Vesalius, and print-images of plants with medicinal properties are on permanent display in the Health Sciences Library on the South Campus. Material for both exhibits was obtained via the Robert L. Brown History of Medicine Collection in the library. The exhibits, supported by the Friends of the Health Sciences Library and the Medical Historical Society of Western New York, may be viewed during normal library hours.

"Beethoven: The Familiar and the Less Familiar"

Images and documents pertaining to Beethoven's life, as well as examples of his sketches and facsimiles of his scores from the Music Library's collections, are on display in the Music Library in Baird Hall through Jan. 7. The exhibit, offered in conjunction with the Beethoven festival presented by the Department of Music in September, is curated by Christopher H. Gibbs, assistant professor of music. Library hours during the academic year are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 2-9 p.m. Sunday.
