Keep Your UB Connection After Retirement

The UB Emeritus Center provides retired University at Buffalo employees and their spouses an opportunity to remain a part of the University community. Members can also participate in UB educational programs and share the camaraderie of fellow UB Emeritus Center colleagues.

Join Your Retired Colleagues:

The UB Emeritus Center meets at 2:00 PM on the second Tuesday of each month except for January, July, and August. Meetings are held on the South Campus. The February and March meetings are held via Zoom due to the unpredictable winter weather.

Monthly meetings consist of a brief business meeting, followed by a featured presentation on subjects of general interest by faculty members or speakers from area organizations. Light refreshments and lively conversation follow each program.

Information about the monthly speaker and presentation can be found on the UB Calendar and in the monthly Emeritus Center Newsletter. The Program Committee actively solicits input from the membership in selecting speakers and topics. The UB Emeritus Center also sponsors field trips, including guided tours or lectures, and one-day trips to interesting places and events around Western New York.

Interested members of the UB Emeritus Center can participate in the UB Connect-a-Bull program. This online engagement platform allows students, alumni, and UB-affiliated friends to connect/network with fellow UB community members to give back to UB and share common interests and/or experiences. Participation in the Connect-a-Bull program is open to former faculty and staff members of the UB Emeritus Center.

Each year the UB Emeritus Center honors the legacy of Rose Weinstein, the UB Emeritus Center’s founder. Rose Weinstein was a retired professor of social work who was widely recognized for her contributions to the field of gerontology. The award is presented to an outstanding UB School of Social Work master’s program graduate who has successfully participated in the Hartford Partnership for Aging Education and has demonstrated skill and sensitivity in their second-year internship rotations.

The Bylaws of the UB Emeritus Center provide guidance to the governing body of the UB Emeritus Center, which is the Board of Directors elected from the membership. Various committees, composed of members, promote activities that include working with campus departments.
