Joseph Masling, professor emeritus of psychology, will be honored by the American Psychoanalytic Association at the group's annual meeting in Chicago May 12. Masling has signed a contract with the American Psychological Association for the 10th volume in the series "Empirical Studies of Psychoanalytic Theories." Volume nine of the series-"Psychodynamic Studies on Sickness and Health"-has just been published.
Arthur Page, director of the Office of News Services, has been elected communications chair on the board of directors of District II, Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
Six members of the faculty and professional staff have been awarded honorary membership in the UB Bulls Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary. NRHH is the honor society for the top 1 percent of residence-hall leaders in the United States and Canada. Honorary members are faculty and staff members who have contributed time and effort to the residence halls at UB. Six new honorary members are Edna Biondo, Red Jacket Dining Hall manager; Dion Daly, Hadley Village manager; Nicole Derenda, assistant Spaulding Hall director; T.J. Greggs, Red Jacket Hall director, Margaret Murphy, assistant Red Jacket Hall director, and Peter Nickerson, professor of pathology and chair of the Faculty Senate.
Edward W. Michael, assistant athletic director of recreation and intramural programs, and Patrick Lyons, interim director of the Office of Financial Aid, received the Friends of EOP Award at the Educational Opportunity Program's 25th annual awards program and honors convocation held April 28.
Faculty members in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures recently published books. They are Hye-Won Choi, assistant professor, "Optimizing Structure in Context: Scrambling and Information Structure;" Carlos Feal, professor, "Poesía y narrative de Pedro Salinas," and María Elena Gutierrez, assistant professor, "Alberto Savinio: lo psichismo delle forme." Two faculty members have edited collections of essays: Czeslaw Z. Prokopczyk, assistant professor, "Bruno Schulz: New Documents and Interpretations" and Margarita Vargas, associate professor and chair, "Latin American Women Dramatists: Theater, Texts and Theories."
