After losing the first three games of a four-game weekend series at Albany, the Bulls came alive at the plate Sunday to win the final game against the Danes 15-0 in a complete-game shutout for freshman Tyler Balentine.
Bryan Sanchez led the Bulls' hitting attack, going 3-for-4 with four runs scored, two RBIs and two home runs. Those two home runs gave Sanchez 10 on the season, setting a new UB school record for homers in a single season.
In earlier weekend games, the Danes swept the Bulls in a Saturday doubleheader, winning those two games 8-5 and 6-1. Adrian Daniels collected two hits in each game. In the first game of the double header on Sunday, Albany used a seven run fourth inning to earn a 11-4 victory.
In other action last week, the Bulls split a doubleheader with LeMoyne on April 27 in Dunn Tire Park. UB won the opening game in a thriller, 5-4, but lost the nightcap 10-1.
In the first game, UB trailed 3-1 when Mike Flaherty hit a two-run homer to tie the score. With the game tied again at 4-4 in the final inning, the Bulls led off with a single by Kevin Nesteruk. A sacrifice bunt moved him to second and Flaherty got a base hit to right field, scoring Brian Zelasko who had come in to pinch run for the winning run.

UB snapped an 11-game losing string by winning the second game of a doubleheader at Cornell 5-2 Sunday afternoon in Ithaca. The Bulls scored three runs in the first on a bases-loaded double by Kelly Malone. UB picked up a pair of insurance runs in the final inning, including a run-scoring single by Kim Sudakow. The Bulls managed to hold off a seventh-inning Cornell rally as Andrea Sage earned the victory, her second of the year. UB dropped the opener 5-1, with Sage accounting for the only RBI.
In other action last weekend, the Bulls dropped a Saturday doubleheader to Albany, 5-4 and 12-2, in UB Softball Stadium.
In the opener, Albany's Stacy Kowal knocked in the winning run with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning, scoring Kara Faraone.
In the nightcap, the Great Danes erupted for three runs in the first on Kowal's bases-loaded double. Albany also cashed in with two runs in the second, three in the fourth and four in the fifth. The Bulls scored single runs in the second and third innings. A double to right by Jessica Kensy scored Kim Lawrence, while Moore accounted for the other RBI with a double, scoring Cox in the third.
The week began with the Bulls dropping doubleheaders at Cleveland State and St. Bonaventure, with a sweep by Syracuse sandwiched in between. The Bulls were no-hit by Cleveland State's Cassie Pittman, 5-0, in the second game of the twinbill on April 24, and Syracuse's Tara DiMaggio threw a perfect game on the Bulls in the opener of a doubleheader on April 25.

Bryan Sanchez become UB's single-season home-run champion after hitting four last week to give him a season total of 10. He went 7-of-16 (.438) for the week, scoring seven runs and driving in six. His two-homer game lifted the Bulls to a 15-0 victory over Albany in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday.

Northern Illinois 4, UB 0
The Bulls completed their season with a 4-0 loss to Northern Illinois in the opening round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament in Kalamazoo, Mich. UB finished the season 5-16 overall.
Northern Illinois took the match quickly, winning 6-0, 6-0 decisions in three matches before being declared the winner.
Men
Bowling Green 4, UB 0
UB was eliminated by Bowling Green 4-0 in the opening round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament held at the University of Toledo Tennis Courts on April 27.
The seventh-seeded Bulls finish the season 8-14.

Men's and women's teams competed in Penn Relays
Men's and women's teams competed in Cornell Invitational
Junior Sarah Fletcher became UB's first-ever championship winner at the competitive Penn Relays as she won the hammer throw with a toss of 176-6".
Also at the Penn Relays, Melissa Ryan set a new UB record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of :14.07. The women's 4x400, 4x100 and 4x200 relay squads also set new UB records.
Adam Smith set a new mark and placed first in the discus throw (159-5") at the Cornell Invitational. He also won the shot put (48-5 1/2").
