Construction
Projects
University
Facilities has announced new, ongoing and completed construction projects
on the North and South campuses. These are projects that are of major
interest, represent a major expenditure of university resources or will
have a major impact on the university community in terms of physical
disruption.
Completed
Projects
- All
phases of the Ellicott Complex masonry-repair projects
- Master
plan for Cary/Farber/Sherman by Cannon Design
- Feasibility
study for Goodyear Hall student housing
- Rehab
of 220-221 Farber Hall for the Office of Medical Computing
- Construction
of two exit stairways in Farber Hall
- Harriman
Hall projectnew elevators and windows were added and some spaces
were rehabilitated
On-going
Projects:
- Exterior
signage project is approximately 90 percent complete. More than 600
new signs are to be installed on North and South campuses.
- Design
for the addition to Ketter Hall is under way. This project will expand
earthquake engineering research laboratory space
- Addition
to Jacobs Management Center is in design
- Phase
II expansion for the Center for Computational Research is under way
in Norton Hall
- Farber
Hall infrastructure project will be bid this month
- Painting
cycle for centrally scheduled classrooms has been accelerated
- Creekside
Village (formerly Skinnersville Road) student housing project is under
construction and will be ready for occupancy by August. It will feature
116 two-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath townhouses
- Rehab
of various elevators on both campuses continues
- Health
Affairs Program is under construction in Cary and Farber halls and
is comprised of research-laboratory renovations for various research
initiatives in the School of Medicine.
New
Projects:
- Faculty
Student Association dining expansion in the Ellicott Complex has begun
construction. Completion is expected in January 2003.
- Biotech
incubator project is in the planning stages
- Lee
Road development master plan is under way. This will be a phased construction
project involving student housing, commercial/retail development and
some academic-support space
