2023 Awardees

Many individuals at UB are committed to eliminating digital accessibility barriers and expanding digital access and inclusion for people with disabilities. The Digital Accessibility Advocate Award recognizes these individuals and celebrates the work that they do.

Congratulations to the 2023 Awardees!

We are pleased to announce that three people have been selected as Digital Accessibility Advocate Awardees for 2023.

Learn about the digital accessibility work each of the awardees has done to deserve this recognition.

Holly Evert

Associate Director of Communications
School of Engineering and Applied Sciences

Holly is recognized for her work in SEAS where she:

  • Managed accessibility and remediation for over 40 websites and 200 faculty CVs.
  • Trained staff on how to identify and remediate accessibility issues.
  • Developed a unit-level web accessibility remediation plan and formed an internal accessibility committee.

Kevin Eye

Senior Application Development Analyst
Enterprise Application Services

Kevin is recognized for his work in EAS where he:

  • Works to ensure the accessibility of the UBCMS — the framework for more than 300 UB websites.
  • Recognizes the criticality of digital accessibility and works collaboratively to resolve issues.
  • Instills the importance of accessibility in each member of his team.

Kristy Strough

Associate Director of Creative and Visual Identity
College of Arts & Sciences Administrative Operations

Kristy is recognized for her work in the Career Design Center where she:

  • Redesigned the website to align to accessibility standards.
  • Developed a graphic design toolkit so staff and designers used accessible colors in their designs.
  • Led Microsoft Word and PowerPoint accessibility training for staff.
