Help improve the quality of life around the world through this fund.
The Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering—part of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences—is a vibrant engine for generating the knowledge, tools, and leadership needed to address society’s most challenging problems in the natural and built environments.
Civil, structural and environmental engineers contribute to the health, safety and quality of life of society through the design, construction and operation of public and private infrastructure.
Here, we aim to educate students in fundamental concepts, critical thinking, technical skills and ethical principles as applied to engineering analysis and design.
Our faculty members and students are actively engaged in research in a variety of areas, including environmental and water resources engineering, geomechanics and geotechnical engineering, structural and earthquake engineering, and transportation systems engineering.
In addition, we strive to serve the engineering profession and society through scholarship and innovative research—as well as provide the local, national and international communities with continuing educational opportunities, technical assistance and intellectual resources.
