About These Micro-Credentials

The Community & Civic Engagement Micro-Credentials include the Conscientious Community Member Micro-Credential and the Active Citizen Micro-Credential.

These micro-credentials will help students become active citizens working toward positive social change in our ever-changing world. Through various educational opportunities, students will develop a strong foundation of knowledge that will prepare them to be leaders in our local, national, and global communities.

On This Page

Students will turn their knowledge into action through various service-learning experiences in the local community that will connect theory to practice. This certificate seeks to provide students with the knowledge, hands-on experience, and critical thinking skills needed to be active citizens during their time at UB and beyond.

Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for both micro-credentials, which can be completed in any order.

Program Requirements

We require a 2.0 minimum GPA for students looking to join these micro-credentials to ensure that they are in good academic standing before including additional responsibilities to their plate. Participation is meant to enhance the student experience and provide opportunities for further engagement.
