Congratulations to Mark Marino on winning the 2018-2019 Milton Plesur Award for Excellence in Teaching. This award is given by the UB Student Association on behalf of the students who nominate their instructors. The award carries the honor of being recognized as an outstanding professor by the students they teach. Marino was presented the award at the organization's annual event, April 29, 2019. Upon receiving the award at the ceremony, Marino stated: "Winning the Milton Plesur Award represents a meaningful and exciting honor from a phenomenal body of UB students whose goals and dreams inspire me daily to be the best I can be as an educator."
"Thank you so much for recognizing me. You as students create invigorating learning momentum with your enthusiasm and commitment. It is from you that purposeful academic energy ignites."
Marino also expressed appreciation to the department for "...all of the opportunities that you have given me to teach various courses in the Department of Mathematics and the CAS Thomas J. Edwards Undergraduate Learning Center. It’s a pleasure to work with all of you and our students. Again thank you to the UB Student Assocation for this exceptional recognition."
Marino is also the receipient of the 2015-2016 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. The award recognizes exemplary teaching and significant contributuion to institutional quality in instruction. In 2017, he was presented with “The Friend of EOP Award” from the UB Educational Opportunity Program in appreciation of his thoughtfulness and dedication to students.
