The CTSI Core Competency Workshop Series provide researchers and trainees with a focused approach to developing and enhancing research skills in key subject areas and eight translational science principles deemed essential to researchers in clinical and translational science by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS). The workshops are tailored to meet the needs of a variety of researchers from diverse disciplines including medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and public health.

Workshops are self-contained modules and are free of charge to everyone in the Buffalo Translational Consortium. Participants have the option to attend the entire series or individual sessions. Participants who attend all of the workshops in a series are eligible to receive a CTSI Certificate of Completion.
Learners completing a micro-credential earn a digital badge that is shareable on their ePortfolio, digital resumé or LinkedIn profile. Micro-credentials may also be stacked to earn certificates or advanced degrees. The digital badging opportunities are free and open to all members of the Buffalo Translational Consortium, including students, faculty, and staff.
Some CTSI Core Competency Workshops — Effective Teaching, Good Clinical Practice, Responsible Conduct of Research, and Scientific Communication — award digital badges to participants who complete the series and weekly assignments. Digital badges are clickable icons signifying achievement in knowledge and skills related to clinical and translational research. Digital badges in these CTSI Core Competency Workshop Series are available when the series are scheduled through live Zoom sessions during the semester, and through video format when they are not. Those wishing to receive a digital badge in any of the above workshop series should contact Catherine Sedota at cmp9@buffalo.edu .
The UB Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. Physicians who attend any or all of the Core Competency workshops in a series may be eligible for CME credit.
