As explained in our top story, participation in research is vitally important. There are numerous studies available at the University at Buffalo, and many ways to take part. Remember, the contributions of healthy people to research are just as important as the contributions of those who have specific conditions. Participation is a “gift” to the health and wellness of your community this holiday season, and year-round.

To find information on current studies in our area focusing on a variety of topics that might be of interest to you, your family and friends, check out UB’s Participate in Research portal.

One noteworthy study currently seeking participants:

WOMEN NEEDED FOR A SUPPLEMENT STUDY

The purpose of this study is to learn more about the effect of vitamin D on recovery of skeletal muscle damage in females.

Eligibility criteria is women:

  • Ages 18-39
  • Who exercise regularly

Your participation will involve:

  • Spending a total of 6-9 hours over six separate occasions in a lab
  • Filling out surveys
  • Having height, weight, and vital signs measured
  • Providing blood draws
  • Having leg measurements taken

Participants will be randomly picked (like flipping a coin) to either take Vitamin D or a placebo for four weeks. The placebo looks like Vitamin D but has no active ingredients. The study takes place at UB’s South Campus.
