Study Abroad Program Leaders

The Office of International Education has purchased an add-on to our online application management software. The product, called AlertTraveler, is a mobile application for iOS and Android devices that utilizes GPS and your travel itinerary. AlertTraveler provides you with country and city intelligence to help you make informed decisions while traveling, safety and security alerts to let you know of any events that could potentially impact your travel or safety, and an instant check-in option allowing you to report your status back to administrators and travel advisors at UB in case of an incident. Students have found the travel and safety information features alone to be useful when studying abroad. The App provides:

• Up-to-date country and city intelligence to prepare you for travel.
• Quick-dial emergency services numbers for your actual location abroad.

Additionally, the App proactively alerts you when an emergency (natural disaster, weather changes, and terrorist activity) may affect you.
