Rhodes Scholarship

The Rhodes Scholarship programme is the oldest (established 1903) international scholarship in the world. Administered by the Rhodes Trust in Oxford, the programme offers over 100 fully-funded Scholarships each year for postgraduate study at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom—one of the world’s leading universities. Rhodes Scholarships are for young leaders of outstanding intellect and character who are motivated to engage with global challenges and are committed to the service of others. They show promise of becoming value-driven, principled leaders for the world’s future, wherever their careers might take them, and in any field. 

• Campus Deadline: Aug. 1
• External Deadline: October

• Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident or have active Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status. 
  
• Be at least 18 and not yet 24 by the application deadline (see the Rhodes guidelines for exceptions for nontraditional students).
• Have completed, or will complete, an undergraduate degree by the summer before the scholarship begins.
• Have a GPA of 3.70/4.0 or higher, or submit a special GPA exception request.
• Be able to demonstrate academic excellence, outstanding intellect and character, motivation to engage with global challenges and a commitment to serving others.

Students who complete all application materials will be considered for nomination to the Rhodes Scholarship. A faculty committee will select UB’s nominees and provide the institutional nomination.
