Panopto and UB Learns

The Panopto integration provides the tools to add and manage Panopto video files from inside Brightspace courses. Video files and classroom lecture recordings added to Brightspace courses using Panopto allow students to watch on any computer, laptop or mobile device.

Audio and Video Content

For an optimal user viewing experience, we recommend utilizing a streaming service like Panopto or YouTube to deliver video and audio content in your course.

REQUIRED: Provisioning Your Course to Use Panopto

Before you can use Panopto in your course, you must provision the tool. Provisioning Panopto will create a folder for your course in Panopto where you can add your videos.

There are two ways to provision Panopto depending on the course.

  • You will be copying content into a new course from an old course where you previously provisioned Panopto.
  • You have a new course and will not be copying any content from a previous course.

Directions for both scenarios are below.

You are copying content into a new course from an old course where you previously provisioned Panopto

  1. Copy course content to the new course from the old course.
  2. On the navbar, click Content.
  3. Locate the Panopto Content link in the copied content. You may have renamed the link in the previous course. Use the Search Topics field at the top of the left menu bar if you need help finding the link.
  4. Click the Panopto Content link. A folder for the new course will be created in Panopto.

  5. A new link will be created called Panopto Content Folder.
  6. Click the Panopto Content Folder link to complete the provisioning process. Essential: A folder in Panopto will not be created until you click the Panopto Content Folder link.
