Dear university community:
It is my great pleasure to announce the appointment of Brian F. Hamluk as Vice President for Student Life, effective June 1.
Brian’s appointment is the culmination of an extensive national search launched in January. From a pool of highly qualified candidates, he emerged as an ideal fit for this important university role. He will be joining us from the University of Pittsburgh, where he serves as associate dean of students and director of administration.
An innovative leader in higher education, Brian is deeply committed to student success, and he keenly appreciates that keeping our students at the heart of everything we do is fundamental to UB’s mission of excellence. Based on his demonstrated record of success, I am confident that he will provide the exemplary leadership necessary to oversee the many UB programs that enhance the university experience for our students, ensuring that they have all of the support and transformative opportunities they need to thrive at UB and engage as globally minded citizens.
I would also like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank Christina Hernandez for her service as interim Vice President for Student Life, and for her leadership throughout the trying circumstances caused by the pandemic.
