“UB’s outstanding student athletes can hold their own with the best competitors in the nation. It is incredibly gratifying to see our women’s and men’s basketball teams get the well-earned opportunity to compete at the very highest level. ”
Satish K. Tripathi, President
University at Buffalo

Whether you were in Cleveland for the conference championships or watching back in Buffalo or elsewhere, Saturday was an unforgettable day for our UB community as our women’s and men’s basketball teams brought home twin Mid-American Conference Championship titles. Now, both teams are headed for the Big Dance—a historic first trip to the NCAA tournament for our women’s team, and the second consecutive NCAA bid for our men’s team, making them the first MAC team in 14 years to earn back-to-back championship titles.

This is a proud moment for our UB community and for Bulls fans everywhere. After the games, I traveled straight from Cleveland to the West Coast on university business, and I can tell you that Bulls fans there are every bit as excited as they are back in Buffalo.

This is yet another exciting milestone as we continue to build a top-notch Division I intercollegiate athletics program at UB. As our players proved once again on Saturday, UB’s outstanding student athletes can hold their own with the best competitors in the nation. It is incredibly gratifying to see our women’s and men’s basketball teams get the well-earned opportunity to compete at the very highest level.

From coast to coast, Bulls fans will be watching with pride as they head to the Big Dance. Our men’s team will face Miami at 6:50 p.m. on Thursday, March 17 in Providence, and our women’s team will compete against Ohio State at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 18 in Columbus.

Congratulations to Athletics Director Allen Greene, Women’s Basketball Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack, Men’s Basketball Head Coach Nate Oats, and their outstanding student athletes, and all best wishes to our two MAC Champion teams as they head to the Big Dance!

Go Bulls!
