The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs is dedicated to supporting UB faculty development, academic achievement, and faculty success at all stages of their career in alignment with the university's mission. We act as a central resource for faculty policies, including tenure and promotion, and lead campus-wide conversations and workshops on higher education leadership, pedagogical and scholarly success, honorific awards, and other related topics. We are committed to providing opportunities for faculty development and growth in areas crucial to success in academia, including early and mid-career mentoring, departmental leadership, instructional innovation, scholarship, and participation in collaborative, community-based research.

Our Focus: Faculty Engagement and Success

As Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs, Robert Granfield is the senior executive officer responsible to the Provost for all matters pertaining to UB’s faculty. He and his staff help facilitate a culture of faculty excellence at the university in the areas of research, teaching, and service.
