Fulbright Scholar Awards comprise the bulk of awards offered and include opportunities for professionals, artists, and scholars at all career-levels. Location and eligibility vary across all awards, and some awards may be restricted to certain career levels or types of scholars. Click here to see available award opportunities.
The Fulbright Global Scholar Award provides support for U.S. academics and professionals to engage in multi-country, trans-regional projects in all disciplines. As a truly worldwide award, U.S. scholars will be able to propose research or combined teaching/research activity in two to three countries with flexible schedule options; trips can be conducted within one academic year or spread over two consecutive years.

Fulbright welcomes applications from scholars who propose multiple, short-term stays in the host country over a period of one to two years. The Flex option is available to scholars interested in research, teaching, or pursuing a combination of teaching and research. The catalog of awards will give detailed information on the Flex parameters for each participating country.

The Fulbright Specialist Program, a short-term complement to the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program, sends experienced U.S. faculty and professionals to serve as expert consultants and engage in education and/or training activities for a period of two to six weeks. Specialists are hosted by a range of overseas institutions, including insitutions of higher education, government institutions, cultural institutions, non-governmental organizations, and medical institutions. Note that eligibility for the Fulbright Specialist program may differ from the Fulbright U.S. Scholar guidelines.
The Fulbright International Education Administrators (IEA) Awards provide international education professionals and senior higher education officials an opportunity to engage in a two-week intensive seminar to learn about the host country’s education system and establish networks of U.S. and international colleagues.
