“It was my great pleasure working with you as a trainee in SCiRM. I am now a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkley’s Innovative Genomics Institute. The SCiRM Training Program at UB set the basis of my knowledge on stem cell biology and shaped my mindset to become a researcher. The knowledge and skills obtained not only led to the completion of my PhD project and the next step of my career, but more importantly built my faith and determination in using science to benefit human wellbeing”.

“I am currently a post-doctoral researcher at Harvard Medical School and a former SCiRM fellow. My SCiRM fellowship during my PhD enabled me to complete multiple experiments, encompassing cell biology assessments and animal studies that I conducted to unravel the anti-aging effects of an embryonic transcription factor on the hallmarks of aging in muscle stem cells. The techniques and methods I learnt under SCiRM support were essential to the scientific understanding of the research that I currently conduct at HMS. In my current position, I am investigating the transcriptional regulation of joint embryonic development as well as the biology of those stem cells that prevent arthritis. I am grateful to the SCiRM community for the support they provided me as it was critical to my success in my research career”.

“I now work at Wuxi Advanced Therapeutics in Philadelphia. The techniques I learned from SCiRM help me a lot in my current career. For example, in the iPSC platform we are reprogramming CD34+ cells to iPSC, and then programming the iPSC to the cells we are interested in. I learned a lot about CD34+ while I was in SCiRM, including CD34+ isolation, expansion and differentiation. Also, the multicolor flow cytometry technique that I acquired while I was working in SCiRM helps me a great deal in the CAR-t platform that I currently work on. I am developing multiple panels (Cell Subset Panel, Cell Memory Panel., etc.) using this technique. I am glad I had the opportunity to learn more in the stem cell area”.
