    In conjunction with a $500,000 grant from the New York State Power Authority Habitat Enhancement and Restoration Fund, UB Dept. of Enviornment and Sustainability professors are spearheading a new study to explore the feasibility of reintroducing freshwater mussels into the Niagara River, with the aim of naturally cleansing the waterway.

  • Waste audit helps UB identify opportunities to improve recycling

    During a two-day period, the UB Sustainability team and student volunteers rolled up their sleeves to carry out a comprehensive waste audit across the campus. These audits serve the purpose of pinpointing areas where waste reduction is possible and providing valuable information to support the creation of sustainable consumption initiatives. The gathered data will play a crucial role in shaping the university's Climate Action Plan, which aims to achieve climate neutrality and progress towards zero waste by 2030.
