Exhibits
Love Canal at 20 Exhibit
The Scientific/Environmental Anniversary Exhibit focuses on Love Canal,
perhaps the country's most infamous hazardous waste site. Aug. 2 marked
the 20th anniversary of the evacuation of residents from the Love Canal
neighborhood. Exhibit places a historical perspective on the role information
plays in the ongoing saga of the Love Canal and recounts what has happened
in the 20 years since citizens left there. Exhibit will be on view in the
Science and Engineering Library (SEL), second floor, Capen Hall, during
regular SEL hours through Sept. 30.
Digital Messages 2.0 Exhibit
Computer Art students in the Department of Art explore personal vision and
expression through digital assemblages, digital time-based media, interactive
digital documents, virtual objects and virtual spaces. Works will be shown
as digital printouts along with on-screen displays of two-dimensional and
three- dimensional animation, algorithmic process art and interactive projects.
Exhibit will be on view in the Art Depart-ment Gallery, Center for the Arts,
from Sept. 3-25. Opening reception is Sept. 3 from 5-7 p.m. Gallery hours
are Tues., 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Wed.-Fri., 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sat., 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Meyer Family Collection
TThe prints in the Meyer Family Collection were created by artists working
under the Graphic Arts Division of the WPA's Federal Arts Project from 1935
to 1943. They offer a broad spectrum of technical, stylistic and representational
diversity and give a look at a unique historical moment, in which artists,
a burgeoning national audience and the government, were in an unprecedented
conversation about the rightful relationship between American art and society.
They will be on exhibit in the UB Art Gallery, Center for the Arts, through
Sept. 13. Gallery hours are Wed.-Sat., 10:30 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sunday, noon to
5 p.m.
