Jazz Dance World Congress '99 at CFA Aug. 4-8

Jazz Dance World Congress The Jazz Dance World Congress '99 will bring registrants from all over the world to UB in August for five days of master jazz dance classes, discussions and performances. The congress will present concerts showcasing some of the world's best professional companies on Mainstage in the Center for the Arts Aug. 4-8. Each concert will offer a varied program performed by at least five dance companies. Evening concerts will be presented Aug. 4-7 at 8 p.m. Afternoon performances will be given Aug. 4-7 at 1 p.m. and Aug. 8, at 2:15 p.m.

Appearing at this year's Congress are Gus Giordano Jazz Dance (Chicago), Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal, Danny Grossman Dance Company (Canada), Instincts Live Media Dance Company (Los Angeles), Ted Levy (New York), Lula Washington Dance Theatre (Los Angeles), Masashi Action Machine (Japan), Charles McGowan (New York), Mia Michaels R.A. W. (New York), Spectrum Dance Theatre (Seattle) and Utah Contemporary Dance Theatre.

Tickets are: afternoon performances, $10, general public and seniors; $5, UB students; evening performances, $19, general public; $16, seniors; $14, Target Treatseats and $12, UB students. Tickets are available at the CFA Box Office or at Ticketmaster locations. For more information, call 645-ARTS.

Exhibits

Hospice: A Photographic Inquiry

The exhibition of works by Jim Goldberg, Nan Goldin, Sally Mann, Jack Radcliffe and Kathy Vargas was organized by the Corcoran Museum of Art in collaboration with the National Hospice Foundation. It will be on display in the UB Art Gallery in the Center for the Arts through July 25. Hours are Wed.-Sat., 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sun., noon to 5 p.m.
