Men

Kent State 81, UB 65

The men's basketball team gave the defending MAC tournament champion Kent Golden Flashes all they could handle in the first half before losing ground in the second half and eventually losing 81-65.

UB got on the board first with a jumper by Damien Foster and the lead went back and forth over the next several minutes. Kent eventually took control and pushed its lead to as many as 11 points, 31-20, with 5:46 to play in the half. But the Bulls charged back, using a 9-2 run to close the gap. Nikolai Alexeev hit a three-pointer with a minute to play to cut the Kent lead to just three points, 37-34, going into halftime.

In the second half, UB came out strong as Louis Campbellscored the first two buckets of the half, giving the Bulls a 38-37 lead. Kent responded with a three-pointer from Demetric Shaw to regain the lead, but a fast-break layup by Foster tied the game at 40-40 with 17:23 remaining. The Golden Flashes scored two baskets to take the lead back, before a Foster free throw cut the lead to three points, 44-41, with 15:26 left.
