UB 75, Northern Illinois 65
Akron 89, UB 81

UB avenged a loss to Northern Illinois earlier this season with a 75-65 victory over the Huskies in Alumni Arena on Jan. 28. Four Bulls scored in double figures as UB avoided a third-straight loss for the third time this season.
ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Joe Clark of the men's indoor track-and-field team provisionally qualified for the NCAA championships with his second-place finish in the 400 meters (47.14) at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational. Clark also placed third in the 200 meters (21.89), setting a school record in the event. Clark, a junior, now holds school records in both the 200 and 400 meters, setting the record in the 400 at the Kent State Open (47.04) in December.

Bernadette Boswell of the women's indoor track-and-field team swept the horizontal jumps at Colgate's Class of '32 Invitational. Boswell, a senior, won the long jump at 17-11.75, while also winning the triple jump at 37-10.25. Boswell's triple-jump mark was an improvement of more than four feet from her top distance last season.

On Saturday, Akron used a torrid-shooting second half to down the Bulls, 89-81, in James A. Rhodes Arena in Akron.

The Zips won their fourth straight in the Mid-American Conference by shooting 58 percent in the second half and forcing 17 UB turnovers. The Bulls, who fell to 10-11 overall and 5-5 in the MAC, lost a one-point halftime lead early in the second half and just could not stop the Zips red-hot shooting after intermission.

Women's

Kent State 72, UB 71
Bowling Green 69, UB 65

The Bulls had possession of the ball with 26 seconds remaining, but were unable to get off a final shot and fell to the visiting Kent State Golden Flashes, 72-71, on Jan. 30 in Alumni Arena.

The Bulls produced one of their best offensive efforts of the season in an attempt to pick up their first-ever win over the Golden Flashes in their eighth meeting. UB shot 49.1 percent from the floor in the game (26-for-53) and had four players score in double figures, led by sophomore Kim Kilpela with 19 points. Kent State entered the game in first place in the MAC's East Division.

On Saturday, the Bulls jumped out to an 18-point lead 17 minutes into the gameÑhitting 16 of their first 28 shotsÑbut connected on just 7-of-24 (29 percent) the rest of the way as Bowling Green eked out a victory, 69-65, in Alumni Arena.

Wrestling

UB 34, Bucknell 8

UB cruised to a 34-8 victory over Bucknell after winning the first five matches of the dual meet. The Bulls' winning wrestlers included Ryan Bentley and Gary Cooper, who both picked up their 75th career victories.

Bill Jacoutot started off the dual meet with a technical fall of Bucknell's Jacob O'Donnell at 3:04. Jacoutot used seven takedowns and a pair of three-point near falls to register the win in the 149-pound match. Other winners for the Bulls included Dave Edwards (157), Dave Guarino (165), Gary Cooper (174), Garrett Bontempo (184) and Mike Cooper (heavyweight).
