"The Rainbow City: Celebrating Light, Color and Architecture at the Pan-American Exposition, Buffalo 1901," a book authored by Kerry Grant, vice provost for academic affairs and dean of the graduate school, has received "Best of Show" and gold awards in the Gallery of Superb Printing competition sponsored by the Printing and Imaging Association of New York State. "Rainbow City" won in the "multicolor—any entry printed in two or more colors"—category. It was printed by Dual Printing.

J. Warren Perry, dean emeritus of the School of Health Related Professions, will deliver the commencement address for the College of Health Related Professions and College of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Medical Center on May 23 in Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Michael Constantinou, professor and chair of the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering and co-director of the Structural Engineering and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory, was a member of a team whose project concerning the seismic modernization of the Ataturk Airport Terminal in Istanbul, Turkey, won a Grand Award in the American Consulting Engineers CouncilŐs 36th annual Engineering Excellence Award competition. Only 12 projects were selected to receive awards of the more than 700 projects entered in the contest, which recognizes outstanding achievements by engineering firms in the areas of building and technology systems, structural systems, surveying and mapping technology, environmental, water and wastewater, water resources, transportation studies and research, and special projects.

Tom Ralabate, associate director and assistant chair for dance in the Department of Theatre and Dance, will be a juror for the Jazz Dance World Congress 2002 Choreography Event. The event recognizes outstanding jazz dance choreographers. Jazz Dance World Congress will take place July 31-Aug. 24 in Chicago. The congress was held at UB in 1999 and 2000, and plans are under way for the university to host the congress again in August 2004.

John Stone, clinical associate professor and director of the Center for International Rehabilitation Research Information and Exchange in the School of Health Related Professions, participated in Rehabilitation 2002, held March 11-15 in Havana, Cuba. Stone presented the work of CIRRIE and met with representatives of the Pan American Health Organization and other rehabilitation researchers from Latin America.
