The pioneering IDEA Center receives crucial operational and research support and enhancements through this fund.
The Center for Inclusive Design and Environmental Access (IDEA Center) is a globally recognized center of excellence committed to creating and implementing inclusive design policies, practices, environments, and products. Here, we create person-centered tools, programs, and environments, and share these practices with change makers in universities, organizations and communities.
This fund supports a variety of initiatives and programs throughout the Center, which is part of UB’s School of Architecture and Planning.
The Center engages in research and design focused on advancing equity and inclusion, with a dynamic group of researchers united by our shared values. We’re committed to creating a more inclusive world – for our clients, our team, and our community—and producing knowledge and tools to increase equity in design for underrepresented groups.
Among numerous accomplishments, the team wrote the first comprehensive textbook on universal design, a design process that enables and empowers a diverse population by improving human performance, health and wellness, and social participation.
