Everywhere you look around Buffalo, UB is there, working with forward-thinking problem-solvers to make our community a better, healthier place to live.
Whether addressing food and nutrition insecurity or providing health care in underserved communities, reaching out, opening doors and using our power for good has been—and always will be—part of our DNA.
Accessibility to fresh, affordable produce options can make food insecurity even more difficult to navigate, which has inspired the UB Veggie Van initiative. Veggie Van is a research-based model of technical assistance, advocacy and networking to build mobile markets in communities across the country to improve health outcomes for people with lower incomes in rural and urban areas.
Additional dental visits to underserved populations thanks to UB’s second Smiles for Miles Dental Van.
A stronger community and a brighter tomorrow starts with us. From inspiring greater acceptance and tolerance to reimaging the ways our towns and cities are designed to fit the moment. The good news? The possibilities are endless—and constantly at the forefront of UB’s brightest minds.
Some 278 million people in the U.S. now live in urban areas . A new center at UB, made possible through the Boldly Buffalo campaign, will address the complex web of problems associated with rapid urbanization. Through innovative thinking and conversation, faculty and students across disciplines will collaborate on the role of design in the complex process of city making. The goal? To enable beautiful, just and resilient spaces.
