Student Employment

Student Assistants and Work Study Students work in our offices and in our mailrooms. They are trained to provide assistance with administrative concerns. Responsibilities vary, but can include:

• Providing friendly and courteous service to students and visitors to Residence Hall Apartment Offices Answering phones and taking messages for professional staff
• Providing assistance as needed with administrative tasks in department offices Distributing resident mail and managing package pick up

• Escorting of cleaning and painting contractors while working in student apartments (this includes handling of master keys) 
• Grounds maintenance including: - watering plants, planting flowers, weeding gardens, pick up garbage, etc.
• Administrative- assist Complex Director with turnover organizational tasks, light office hours Inspect rooms for contractor work completion 
• Other duties as assigned

• Provide a good customer experience for conference guests and other staff members
• Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of an office that is open 7 days a week including holidays from 8:30 am – 12 midnight
• Serve as frontline staff when conference guests check-in or out. 
• Duty (this can be copied from under the Sumer RA and CA dropdown)
  • When on duty be in office prepared to respond to nightly issues from 8 pm – Midnight
  • Forward phone to your room at midnight, respond to calls
  • Respond to questions and emergencies
  • Complete lock-outs
  • Have an awareness of university policy and guest policies
  • Make referrals to professional staff as appropriate

Programming/Community Building

• Plan activities to encourage community building and neighborly behavior amongst groups

• Serve as a campus and community resources

• Conflict mediation and resolution for troubled students

Administrative

• Check-in and check-out of residents

• Duties related to Residential Facilities concerns: work orders, room condition reports, linen counting, etc.

• Review, and be familiar with, policies and procedures contained in the Guide to

Residence Hall Living

• Inspect rooms and check keys in preparation for student and conference guests

Duty

• When on duty be in office prepared to respond to nightly issues from 8 pm – Midnight

• Forward phone to your room at midnight, respond to calls

• Respond to questions and emergencies

• Complete lock-outs

• Have an awareness of university policy and guest policies

• Make referrals to professional staff as appropriate

Summer Conference Host

• Must possess a 2.5 UB cumulative UB QPA
• Maintain enrollment for the upcoming Fall semester
• Availability during business, evening, and weekends
• Must be available to live on campus during their summer employment

Summer Community Assistants

• Must possess a 2.5 UB cumulative UB QPA
• Availability during business, evening, and weekends
• Must be available to live on campus during their summer employment

Summer Resident Advisor

• Must possess a 2.5 UB cumulative UB QPA
• Availability during business, evening, and weekends
• Must be available to live on campus during their summer employment

Summer Turnover Assistant

• Must possess a 2.5 UB cumulative UB QPA
• Availability for work 20-29 hours a week
• Maintain enrollment for the upcoming Fall semester

Requirements for All Positions

• Submit a resume and two references
• Candidates must be in good judicial/conduct standing with the university and within Campus Living
• Proven leadership experience
