Discover the latest advancements in AI at UB! Join us on Thursday, November 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the UB Center for the Arts Screening Room for an engaging event designed to update faculty and staff on how AI is transforming teaching and learning. Learn from campus leaders, hear insights from a keynote speaker, explore innovative projects by UB’s AI Faculty Fellows, and get hands-on experience with cutting-edge AI tools.
Join us for our upcoming AI at UB Forum, a dedicated event for faculty and staff to stay informed on the latest developments in AI at the University at Buffalo. This forum offers an opportunity to learn how AI is being implemented across teaching, learning and research, and how it’s transforming instruction within higher education.
Campus leaders will kick off the forum with insights on the current state of AI at UB, including ongoing initiatives and future goals for the integration of AI in education.
Rachael Hageman Blair, associate director of education in UB’s institute for artificial intelligence and data science and committee chair on the AI Implementation Task Force, will be presenting this session. She will discuss the different perspectives students and faculty have on generative AI in the classroom. Understanding these perspectives can inform effective AI integration, foster collaboration, and enhance learning outcomes.
Hear from five UB Faculty Fellows for AI in the Classroom who received AI seed grant funding to integrate generative AI into their courses. These fellows will engage with participants on the innovative ways to apply AI in instruction, offering valuable takeaways for those looking to enhance their teaching with AI.
Following the presentations, join us for a reception with light refreshments in the Center for the Arts Atrium. During this time, you'll have the chance to network with past AI Seed Fund awardees and learn more about their projects.
Additionally, staff from CATT will be available to walk you through generative AI tools via our Explore AI initiative, where you can directly try out popular AI tools like ChatGPT, MidJourney, Grammarly, and Copilot. Tablets will be available for hands-on exploration, and our staff will provide guidance on how these tools can be utilized in your teaching.
This forum will be held in person only, with no live stream available. However, a recording of the keynote presentation will be posted on this page after the event.
