Caregiver Stories

We work with community members to co-create personal histories, cultivate artistic production, and organize writing workshops. We hope these resources inspire ideas, activism, and further research.

  • Oral Histories
    10/24/24
The Community of Care project is gathering oral histories as a resource that will preserve our shared stories about living in the community and caring for one another. We are working with those who wish to share their story about disability caregiving and caretaking, providing resources for all steps in the process.
  • Writing Workshops
    10/24/24
The Communities of Care sponsors writing workshops in the community centered on the themes of the project. We will highlight the writing produced in our workshops on our website.
  • Artistic Production
    11/14/24
The Communities of Care project has awarded artist grants for 2024 and will seek out new proposals in 2025. We are also organizing arts-based workshops so that people can tell their stories through their artwork.

Collecting stories and information about experiences, helping to share that work, and making it searchable, with the consent of their creators, will allow future researchers and community members to access the experiences and voices of people who have been historically silenced. We’ll gain new perspectives on their every day lives including on the delivery of health care,  working conditions for employees, and other valuable information related to physical health, mental health, nutrition and well-being.”
