We hope you have a truly transformative experience while studying abroad.
Even when UB students are studying abroad, they are held to the Student Code of Conduct. Please review the document and be reminded that while abroad, you are representing not only the University at Buffalo, but your family, and our country.
As a way to address some concerns from academic advisors and financial aid advisors, we now ask students to submit proof of registration at the host institution while abroad. This directly affects students who receive TAP (Tuition Assistance Program from New York State) funding as well as students who are planning to use coursework from abroad to meet UB Curriculum or general education requirements. Students who receive a TAP award MUST show they are taking coursework toward their degree.
In order to help students communicate this information to the Office of Financial Aid (where appropriate) as well as their academic advisors (in the case of the UB Curriculum), we have built a questionnaire for you to submit proof of your registration at the host institution abroad within the same online system you used to either apply for or notify us of your participation in a study abroad program. You will see this request, after logging into our application system, under what is called “While Abroad”. The expectation is that students will submit a screenshot of their registration at the host institution abroad which will show the courses in which you are currently enrolled.
Completing this post-decision questionnaire item in your online application will helps us communicate with your academic and financial aid advisors regarding what courses you are taking while abroad.
