James L. Jarvis Jr. is chief campus counsel of the University at Buffalo's Office of General Counsel. His areas of expertise are labor relations and employment matters, students affairs and athletics.
Prior to this role, Jarvis served as senior counsel with the State University of New York Office of General Counsel and, before that, associate vice president for human resources and director of employee relations at UB.
Jarvis' professional experience also includes serving the City of Buffalo as its director of labor relations and assistant corporation counsel; as an assistant corporation counsel for the City of Syracuse; and a federal court clerkship in the Northern District of New York, in Syracuse.
He earned both his BA in communication and his JD from UB.
