Skills You Need. Proof You Have Them.
With today’s complex medical environment, employers are seeking health professionals prepared to work collaboratively within the health care team. Students in eligible health professions will have the opportunity to earn a series of three digital badges.
Upon completion of these badges, students will earn the Interprofessional Collaborative Practice Micro-Credential.
Students are equipped with learning experiences to develop the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) Core Competencies for Collaborative Practice, which include interprofessional values and ethics, roles and responsibilities of health care providers, and interprofessional communication and teamwork.
Graduates are provided with a certified credential to distinguish themselves as interprofessional collaborative health care practitioners.
This program is open to UB students enrolled in a participating health professions program. This includes students in the programs of athletic training, dental medicine, dietetics, health law, health care management, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, public health, and social work.
All students participating in this micro-credential will be automatically enrolled. There is no need for you to do anything regarding enrollment.
When your program enrolls you for the Interprofessional Forum, you will also be enrolled in the IPCP Micro-credential Program.
Between two and three semesters.
A digital badge is a new type of credential that allows you to show specific skills that you have gained through learning experiences.
Moreover, it’s a clickable icon that houses information such as the issuing institution, the date earned, the criteria required to earn the badge and the evidence that shows you have met the required criteria.
Once earned, you may share it on social media sites, such as Linkedin, added as a link on your resume, and embedded in your e-portfolio and email signature.
UB digital badges are issued through the platform Credly. With Credly, you will be able to display your skills and accomplishments to employers, colleagues and peers.
With questions about using Credly, please contact the Office of Micro-Credentials: micro@buffalo.edu or 716-645-1357.
There are three badges that must be earned at different points along the program’s pathway: IPCP Foundations, IPCP Communication and Teamwork and IPCP Healthcare Practice. Completion of these badges earns you the Interprofessional Collaborative Practice Micro-Credential.
Students will learn the foundational knowledge of interprofessional collaborative practice, the four IPEC Core Competencies, and the rationale for interprofessional practice for improving health outcomes and strengthening our health care system.
