On behalf of the entire University at Buffalo community, I want to take a moment to express our heartfelt sympathies for all those who have been impacted by Hurricane Sandy. This includes our students, faculty, alumni and our friends at our sister institutions.
Our extended university family is spread out across the nation and around the world. Our family spans multiple generations and many continents.
Now our UB community worldwide is coming together in solidarity and support for those dealing with Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath. Many of our alumni, students, and their families have been impacted by the disaster.
We are working closely with affected students and their families to provide support and accommodate any special needs they may have during this difficult time.
UB is also working with the American Red Cross to organize blood drives and to collect and distribute food, clothing, and other items to help those in need. Many of our students have asked how they can help more, and we are organizing volunteer opportunities to support their efforts.
When I had the honor of delivering my first State of the University address on November 2nd, I remarked that we need to focus on what unites us under a common purpose. UB stands ready to offer its help and support over the weeks and months ahead.
Our deepest sympathies are with all those who have been affected.
Sincerely,
SATISH K. TRIPATHI
President
