Dear University Community:
After careful review, it is my pleasure to approve and promulgate UB’s Time, Place and Manner Policies regarding assembling, camping on campus and posting. As a scholarly community that embraces the tenets of the First Amendment, we are dedicated to upholding the rights of free speech and the right to peaceably assemble. These clarified policies reaffirm UB’s commitment to ensure a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where we are free to carry out our education and research mission without disruption or interference.
I would like to thank the members of our university community for your collaboration. I appreciate the productive, respectful dialogues that took place throughout the extended university-wide review process. I would like to especially acknowledge our Policy Review Group—the faculty, staff and student representatives from across the university, including from the Faculty Senate, the Professional Staff Senate, the Undergraduate Student Association and the Graduate Student Association—for your thoughtful engagement
Please find below links to the assembling, camping on campus and posting policies, which went into effect November 6, 2024.
Again, many thanks to all involved in the development of these clarified policies. I commend the UB Policy Review Group and our entire UB community for your insights, exemplary work and contributions to our climate of mutual respect.
Sincerely,
Satish K. Tripathi
President
