Exciting innovations under development in UB’s New York State Center of Excellence in Materials Informatics (CMI), which was established with an initial round of $200,000 from New York State in March 2012.

Investigators who received pilot funding awards last year through the Clinical and Translational Research Center presented their work in a colloquium on Friday, April 12th.

A unique conference held at UB at the end of March brought together a wide range of scholars to discuss the “transnational turn” in their respective disciplines.

In a talk at UB’s Center for Fine Arts on March 6, 2013, Dr. Sonny Ramaswamy, Director of the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), presented the range of problems facing the world as population growth strains food and water resources.

For ten weeks every summer, thanks to a program at UB, undergraduate students collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of investigators on ecosystem restoration.

We are pleased to report that the search for the next Assistant Vice President-Sponsored Projects Services is now underway. Robert Genco, Distinguished Professor of Oral Biology and Microbiology, and Vice Provost, will provide leadership to the process as chair of the search committee.

Questions have begun to arise as to the impact that "Sequestration"--the large, automatic, and across-the-board cuts in federal spending set to take effect March 1st unless action is taken in Washington--will have on federal research funding at the University at Buffalo for the immediate future and beyond.

A professor emeritus of physics has donated a valuable collection of Robert Frost materials to the Poetry Collection at UB.
