TASS provides the support you need to be a successful college student.
Students can meet with an academic coach, one on one, to develop more successful study habits and skills. Coaches will focus on your individual needs to help you reach your goals. Topics typically discussed are time management, study skills, exam prep and motivation.
Students have the ability to meet one-on-one with a trained tutor. The tutor will tailor your session based on your academic needs. Tutors will help you find new ways to interpret information, synthesize knowledge, give you a new perspective. Working one-on-one with a tutor can help you overcome the rigors of college-level work or simply get a jump on things.
What to know before you attend a tutoring session.
In partnership with Campus Living, we offer tutoring in the residence halls. Drop-In tutoring is available in the Blake Academic Center in the Ellicott Complex, in the Jones Academic Center in Governors, and in Goodyear Tutoring Center located on south campus. Tutors are available during scheduled hours offering tutoring in high-demand courses such as chemistry, physics, math and biology. Check the schedule below for specific days and courses offered.
Throughout the semester students can attend and participate in TASS programming which includes workshops and other events. Workshops and events vary in topic by semester. Check for upcoming events on the TASS homepage.
First-generation students are invited to join our Peer Mentoring program. You will be paired with an upperclass first-generation student who will serve as your advocate and friend. Your mentor will help guide you through your academic and personal goals in your first year.
Academic Success Strategies (LAI 203) is a course taught by the TASS staff. It is designed to help students who are struggling with their coursework to get back on track. Students who have been placed on academic warning or probation are invited to take the course. For more information please speak with your academic advisor or contact TASS at asktutoring@buffalo.edu.
