The Global Virus Network (GVN) is a coalition of the world’s leading medical research centers working to prevent death from viral disease. It represents more than 25 countries and includes experts in every class of virus-causing disease in humans.

In March 2015 the University at Buffalo was added as a center of excellence, primarily because of its distinguished HIV and HCV Clinical Pharmacology Laboratory. The GVN recently admitted the University of the West Indies to its network, to focus on Chikungunya and Zika viruses.
