The annual NYSCHP Corporate Scholarship Essay contest challenges PharmD students who are in their final two years of pharmacy school in New York State to write and submit a health care essay to NYSCHP. This year's contest focused on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in transforming hospital pharmacy practices and health care delivery. Babina was selected as the winner for her innovative ideas on how AI will reshape hospital practice.

"I drew significant inspiration from my Informatics course (PHM 706) taught by Barbara Rogler, PharmD, MS, clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice,” says Babina. “Her enthusiasm and curiosity for AI were evident in her lectures, which sparked my interest in how emerging technologies could shape the future of pharmacy practice."

As the contest winner, Babina received a complimentary one-year membership to NYSCHP, along with registration to the NYSCHP Annual Assembly taking place in Saratoga Springs, NY, from April 3-6. She will be recognized during the Annual Assembly Installation Banquet.

"Winning this essay contest is an honor and a testament to the growing impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in pharmacy practice," says Babina. "As AI continues to transform health care, I am eager to contribute to its responsible implementation in hospital pharmacy and health care delivery, particularly in clinical decision-making, medication reconciliation and personalized medicine. This recognition strengthens my commitment to becoming a clinician-scientist dedicated to integrating AI-driven solutions to enhance patient care and optimize pharmacy workflows. Moving forward, I plan to advocate for the ethical and effective use of AI to improve health care accessibility and patient outcomes."
