To ensure the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and research endeavors, the University at Buffalo’s Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) department, in conjunction with the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development (VPRED) have developed the nonresearch animals on campus request for individuals who want to bring animals to campus for events that do not require IACUC* approval.
Applicable animals include all vertebrate animals and cephalopods that may be brought to campus for a variety of reasons such as a petting zoo or stress relief activity. The University at Buffalo requires that those who bring animals to campus must adhere to NYS requirements for Petting Zoos (7 CRR-NY 7-5.14) and/or Fairs (1 CRR-NY VII part 351).
“Determination of when IACUC oversight is required: the Institutional Animal Care and Use Program (IACUC) approves all animal programs on campus involved in educational, testing, and research activities (see UB IACUC program policy).
We must receive your request at least 10 days prior to the animal(s) arriving on campus.
